Saint Roch

Regular price £1,700

Flemish, circa 1520, oak with traces of polychrome.

St. Roch although himself a victim of the Plague was always a popular Saint who helped to safeguard others from the same fate. He is shown here revealing his plague sore and his suffering is sometimes alleviated by a dog bringing him some bread. The details of his costume are interesting with cloak and high boots.
